You currently have 0 posts. and I agree on this, that alcohol should be avoided when taking antibiotics, doctors would support this, however, there is not much literature out there that directly examines the impact of alcohol on the effectiveness of antibiotics. On the one hand there are some ethical problems with the study --- to accurately measures the patient really want to be sick to be included and need antibiotics and indeed if alcohol reduces the effectiveness of the patient may get something worse or die all the time increasing resistance to antibiotics. Methodology problems --- is not very ethical to do a double-blind study in which no one on either side know who is sick or not, and receiving antibiotic plus alcohol or alcohol plus placebo or placebo plus alcohol. It would be stimulating for research. .
